Marina is a Senior Researcher of the National Research Council of Italy at SCITEC-CNR in Milano, where she leads the projects on protein and peptide assays for diagnostics and biomarker discovery. She is currently coordinating the H2020 FET PROACTIVE project MARVEL (Evolving reversible iMmunocapture by membrane sensing peptides: towARds scalable extracellular VEsicLes isolation).

Her research is focused on the development of new biomolecular methods for diagnosis and health monitoring, with a strong focus to system integration and technology development; ongoing projects include new analytical platforms for extracellular vesicles, point of care devices for infectious diseases, microarrays for allergy profiling and biomarker validation.

She has been PI in 4 National projects and staff scientist in 5 European projects. She is author of more than 80 peer reviewed papers, 5 invited reviews, 8 chapters in books (h-index 28 in Scopus) and served as Editor of the books Peptide Microarrays  1st , 2nd , 3rd editions, Methods in Molecular Biology Series.

She holds the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor in Clinical Biochemistry.

Executive and Founders Board of EVIta (Italian Society for Extracellular Vesicles).
